NOTE: Some of these features require direct support on your motherboard. However, the majority of video players, including Windows Media Player, support nearly all features of GOM Player.
User Customization – The app features a variety of options, so users can have the app look the way they want. You can select the size, color, and transparency of the interface, and the size and transparency of the player window. You can also change the background image and make the interface simpler or more complex. Not only does Media Player support custom backgrounds, it also allows customization of your player controls. Users can double click on a menu item to bring it up, change the order of the controls, and add them to favorites.
Windows Media Player 8 includes basic playback features, including the ability to play audio and video files and to download embedded media (such as Web video, games and other apps), as well as features for music, video, photos and home movies. It also includes the ability to play compact discs (CDs) and DVDs. In Windows Media Player 9, the program added high-definition video capabilities and became more mobile-optimized for use on Windows Mobile devices.
One of its best features is searching for other people’s work using your library. It not only has the option to search the library, but also the option to be notified if a certain song is liked or commented on. The media player comes with a new guide list on the left that lets you browse the media library, search for media, and add media to your playlist or library. A small feature added to the media player in Windows 10 is the ability to browse through your cloud-stored media. The media player can browse your files stored in the cloud, if you have them hosted there. You can view your files using the media player with its new ribbon browsing option. The updated media player also supports personal files having a play count, which means you can now track the amount of times a video file has been played.

WindowsPlayer is a small, streaming player for Windows. Simply download it and install. It runs on systems with 64-bit Windows 7 or later and has features like one-key play/pause, auto-play next episode in a series, and replay between chapters. It can automatically download videos from the web, and can seamlessly play files from a removable USB storage.
Compared to other players, such as Kodi, VLC, and 5KPlayer, download free windows media player is designed to fit in the Windows system tray and auto-download episodes from different television providers. If youre using Windows 10, WindowsPlayer works with TV providers that use the client-side estimation to determine what youre interested in.
If youre a Windows 10 user, WindowsPlayer is free. If youre using Windows 7 or below, you can download it for free or register for a free trial.
You can use download free windows media player for YouTube videos and live streaming television programs. It comes with a built-in downloader, a web video converter, a scheduler, and a bandwidth booster.
While WindowsPlayer is a great option to stream with, it does have some drawbacks. For example, because download free windows media player apps are not sandboxed and do not track browsing history, any type of malware can take advantage of the lack of background tracking for malicious reasons. Another issue is that WindowsPlayer apps cannot play RMVB files. That said, WindowsPlayer can be used for free and has many other advantages compared to other players.

User-friendly design. Windows 10’s WindowsPlayer gets the job done, and is a far better starting point than another media player, though it lacks some key bells and whistles. You can download the download free windows media player from Windows Update or the Windows Store and launch it. Tapping the player icon in the system tray brings up a quick access toolbar with your playlist and volume controls along the top. You can bring up the folders to change your library or keyboard shortcuts. Don’t get too fancy and start using the WindowsPlayer for playlists, though: The program comes with a few built-in playlists but doesn’t offer much beyond that, and you’ll have to open them manually with the generic file explorer. Otherwise, the download free windows media player is a great little media player and needs a little extra work to be user-friendly.
Kodi is a great media center alternative to WindowsPlayer. It includes an assortment of media center features, including a media library, built-in music services support for streaming, and multi-media playback control. Kodi is free and open source.
The other major benefit of download free windows media player vs. WMP is that it already implements the new iTunes Match music-service features, which allow your iTunes music collection to automatically stream to the MP3-compatible player. WMP currently doesn’t implement the cloud-based service, so you’ll need to access your own music collection from a local file or use the cloud-based service. But, even if you don’t use the cloud service, you have the ability to stream all the music and movies on your local hard drive–with no storage restrictions whatsoever–by choosing to download to your player’s memory.
With the addition of WindowsPlayer, we can now recommend this player as the best video converter/video player of 2013. But, is it worth paying another $30-40 when the new WMP 11 is only a few months away from final release?
The other new feature worth noting is the vastly improved browser. What used to be a mediocre player with a frustrating, highly invasive left-hand nav is now a clean, well-thought-out, and easy-to-use navigation tool. Click the Library split button to get to the video or photo libraries, which have their own dedicated set of nav-pane options. And, in the main browser window, which has no more boring, anonymous text on a dark background, you get a colorful album-art-driven view of music, thumbnail views of photos, and screenshot thumbs of their video files, all on a light-colored background.

Thats about all the good youre going to get from Media Player. And if youd rather use something else instead such as VLC or iTunes, there are other much better players to try out.
This article will help you disable the Windows Media Player app in Windows 10 so you can uninstall or disable it. Windows Media Player is still included as a legacy feature in Windows 10, but its scheduled for retirement next year. Its still available as a standalone app, but you should try using a different music player like VLC or Groove Music.
Windows Media Player is available as a standalone app in the Windows Store. Just go to the Start menu and search for “Windows Media Player”. You can also find WMP in Control Panel > Sound and Video, where you can set settings for accessing its features.
Windows Player is also available as part of the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) runtimes, and can be used as a replacement for MediaPlayer.exe in older Windows applications. It works similarly to the Control Panel’s Audio settings and Video settings windows, but it offers a more streamlined user experience.
If you do not have a Music Pass subscription, you’ll need to authenticate your computer using your Windows account. (This also applies to files you download for offline listening.)
The media player app has a pretty steep learning curve. You can start by double-clicking the WMP icon in the system tray to open the default installation. But youll find theres quite a bit to learn before you can become an accomplished WMP user. For that, youll need to:
Who Uses WindowsPlayer and Why Is It Important?
If you have the necessary equipment and you wish to rip your own DVD disc, it can be done with a DVD player or a DVD recorder. However, if you have a compatible DVD drive, then you can use an external hard drive. A DVD recorder uses a compatible DVD drive to burn a DVD and play the resulting disc.

What’s new in WindowsPlayer?
Spotlight Tiles comes to WindowsPlayer in a new interface upgrade. Now the app has a variety of customizable tile layouts that let you quickly access your favorite music, videos, and photos, but you can also easily access univeral favorites, and even create a library if you want. If you get a blank screen, just tap Search and youll see your most-used files.
With download free windows media player, you can play, record and share music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, audiobooks, and a growing number of free and pay TV programs, just as you would on your PCs, smartphones and tablets with a familiar interface you know and love.
Microsoft has a large number of video streaming services available with its OneDrive service, but one of the things that it wanted to see out of WindowsPlayer was an ability to play some of those services right from the app. After all, if youre going to play something, you might as well be able to access them right from the app.
So, what is new in download free windows media player? The answer to this question is, not much. Its really just a more refined port of the old Windows Media Player. It even shares most of the same limitations with the old Windows Media Player. Among the most important limitations that it shares with the old version of Windows Media Player is its inability to play most.3gp video files. A few users have reported success in playing such files via the old Windows Media Player, but a majority of the videos that are there simply won’t play. Its also an app that has a lot of trouble with common video formats that are floating around the Internet.
As I noted in my Windows Media Player 10 review, for years third-party solutions have been able to provide a more customized view of music for users. Album art. Artist information. Metadata. Record ratings. Playlists. Playback controls. All of this can be set in third-party players via the Windows Media Format (WMF) format, but most of these features simply aren’t available in Microsoft’s Media Player. And as I noted, they should be.
This is where WMP 10 comes in. Much like MSN Music, the beta version of which I reviewed, Microsoft’s new media streaming mechanism uses WMP 10 as its centerpiece. It’s starting with just the Windows Media Format (WMF) support for several popular file types, including MP3, MP4, Ogg Vorbis, and AAC. Expect to see support for more file types in future beta releases, as well as the ability to stream music and access photos stored on network shares. The latter feature, which is part of the broader Microsoft SCCB offering (see my Network Access Review), will be especially important as computing moves away from individual devices. And while it’s not a major focus of the new player, there is at least some Windows Media format support. Expect this to continue to grow as future updates are rolled out.
I must admit that I’ve never been a WindowsPlayer fan. My friends and colleagues tended to use it as an appendage to VLC or Media Player Classic, and I found it rather slower and clunkier when it was dealing with large music libraries.
So, I was pleasantly surprised when Microsoft announced that they would include WMP 10 in a default installation of Windows 7, and would be offering the WMP 10 beta for Windows 8. This essentially means that anyone with a Windows 8 machine has access to WMP 10 already (and if they don’t have a Windows 8 PC, then they get to download the corresponding Windows 7 and Windows 8 DVD). I decided to see if this is a good decision, and if it’s a worthwhile upgrade. Here’s my conclusion.
WindowsPlayer New Version
Windows Media Player was released with the new version (WMP8) and was well received by its users. The program, previously known as Windows Media Player, has been revamped with the best of the new features and innovations. The release is a major upgrade over the previous versions and introduces a number of new features. Most of the new features have been implemented in a sleeker, more modern and user friendly interface.
The windows media player is available in two versions, One with 32-bit architecture and other with 64-bit architecture. Both versions can play all the formats even the proprietary formats. It has also been developed to play online streaming music. So even if you are not into listening to songs from the internet, it can do so seamlessly and in a more user-friendly way. This version is available for almost all the platforms (and versions of windows) apart from the ones mentioned below.
Windows Phone 7, Windows Phone 720 and Windows Phone 8 will come with a standard media player.
The latest version of the player (version 9) has some of the best improvements. It will be getting the new Sync feature in the next version of windows. There are also some security improvements which will increase the reliability of the program. However, there are some drawbacks, such as inability to handle.xu files and DRM protected files. It will have the same UI as seen in version 8. If you have installed the previous version, upgrading to this might be a problem as there is no direct upgrade. You’ll have to remove the older version first.
The latest update for Windows Media Player will include some updates and improvements that will make a smoother and reliable player. If you are not planning to purchase the new WMPlayer, upgrade your current player to the latest version.
